I trust this meeting-free week has provided you with some space and time away from Zoom, necessary moments of “think time,” and well-deserved opportunities to attend to elusive tasks. This Thanksgiving week also signifies the end of 2020 is just around the corner. While the calendar year began as most do – with optimism for the upcoming semester and new year resolutions – we soon found ourselves in the midst of a challenging set of circumstances brought on by COVID-19. We have found ways to work within and in relationship to restrictions, guidance, and modified expectations.

Even without the coronavirus pandemic, this time of year often brings its own challenges. The days grow shorter, darker, and colder. 2020 cannot end soon enough.

We are all working under stressful conditions. Many people are anxious, simultaneously juggling numerous responsibilities of work and home, and finding less time to do either sufficiently. Remember, we do not have to work all the time, even though it may feel like everything we are confronted with is an emergency. Should this time of year present you with seemingly excessive pressures, please be mindful of the support and resources the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides to employees, family members, and dependents.

Keep in mind, it is acceptable to take a break sometimes. I trust you will be able to make time to rejuvenate in the coming days, the final weeks of the semester, and through the remainder of the calendar year.

Thank you for your hard work, perseverance, and resilience. Be well. Be safe. Have a restful Thanksgiving break.

In Gratitude
