[UPDATED: 29 Apr 2021]
ALERT: Box Migration Update
The Box to OneDrive migration for the College of Arts and Architecture will begin on MAY 3, not May 10, as previously communicated. PLEASE READ ENTIRE TEXT BELOW FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
If you have fewer than 60,000 files in Box, and if none of your single files exceeds 15 GB in size, and if your file names are less than 400 characters each, the automated process should run smoothly. Please note this applies to almost all users. If your Box folders exceed 500 GB, the migration process will take longer.
For more information, visit https://storage.psu.edu/individual/ for tips and a pre-migration checklist.
There are two phases to the Box to OneDrive migration:
- Phase 1 (May 3–22) – Your folders and files will be copied to OneDrive. You may continue working in Box until May 22, but please do not make any modifications to the folder structure.
- Phase 2 (May 23–30) – Your folders and files in Box will become “read only” as they are copied again to OneDrive. After that process is complete, you will receive an email from the Box team telling you that you may access and work with your OneDrive files via SharePoint.
Please note that during Phase 1, you will see a folder in OneDrive titled “Box Migration Data.” Do not use that folder until you receive the email telling you Phase 2 is complete.
If there are any issues encountered during the migration process, Arts IT will reach out to you individually.
As a reminder, there will be another Box migration information session with Arts IT on Thursday, April 29, 2–4 p.m., via Zoom.
Visit the Box Migration website for more information, or contact Arts IT.
