Q: Does the hiring freeze apply to part-time wage payroll positions that are often filled by students?
A: No. At this time, the hiring freeze does not apply to part-time wage payroll positions or federal work-study positions.

Q: What implications does the hiring freeze have for one-year contracts and fixed-term positions that are up for renewal?
A: The implications of the hiring freeze on one-year and fixed-term contracts are not clear at the moment. This question is under review by University administration.

Q: If we have a position posted with a search in progress, are we able to proceed and ultimately make an offer?
A: Searches should be paused with some exceptions for critical positions. If you have a search underway that you believe is for a critical position, you should discuss the position, needs, and budget with your unit leader and Human Resources representative.
