College Award for Creative Achievement

The Creative Achievement Award honors excellence and achievement in scholarly pursuit, artistic endeavors, and service contributions by undergraduate and graduate students within the schools and departments of the College of Arts and Architecture. It is presented during the college’s Spring Awards Ceremony in April. Consideration will be given to undergraduate students (preferably final year) and graduate students who have proven themselves over an extended period.

NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS

Each February, the Dean’s office will send a notice to unit heads with a 30-day deadline to select the students they wish to honor. In March, the unit heads will forward to the Dean’s office the students’ names, bios, and their faculty escort for the awards ceremony.

The award is based on evidence of excellence documented by the individual departments or schools. A maximum of three awards may be granted by each department or school (with at least one award going to an undergraduate student). Recipients of this award will receive a medallion designed by Professor John Cook, School of Visual Arts.

CRITERIA

  • A maximum of 23 awards may be given each year: 3 in each department or school, except Integrative Arts, which may award only 2.
  • If a department or school exercises its privilege to grant awards, at least one must be granted to an undergraduate student and no more than two may be granted in the undergraduate or graduate student ranks in any given year.
  • In extraordinary circumstances, an award may be made for group or team achievement, but this will neither increase the number of awards available nor result in individual medallions for each member of the recognized group or team.
